One of SAA’s goals is to keep tradition alive at UConn. To kickstart your journey from UConn student to UConn alum, we’ve put together a list of 81 Things to Do Before You Graduate. This list shows you how to be a student today and a Husky forever, and it honors UConn’s past, present, and future. We hope you’ll enjoy learning about UConn traditions as much as we enjoy creating and preserving them.

Prove You Bleed Blue

  • Kick off your UConn experience with your class at Convocation
  • Attend a basketball game in Gampel and get on the Jumbotron
  • Take your picture with Jonathan the Mascot
  • Pet Jonathan XV
  • Rub the nose of the Husky statue
  • High-five a football player at “Husky Walk” before a home game
  • Visit the Husky Heritage Sports Museum, located in the Alumni Center
  • Paint the Spirit Rock
  • Tailgate before a home football game
  • Catch a free T-shirt at a sporting event
  • Go to at least one game for every sports team
  • Learn the “UConn Husky” fight song, and sing it at a game
  • Celebrate Jonathan at his annual birthday party, hosted by SAA
  • Stuff-a-Husky with SUBOG or Late Night

Eat Across Campus

  • Sample flavors at the #UConnDairyBar
  • Take part in SUBOG’s One-Ton Sundae during Winter Weekend
  • Eat in every dining hall across campus
  • Grab some friends and visit SUBOG’s Food Truck Festival
  • Visit a food truck like Food for the Pack, UConn Dairy Bar, or Lizzie’s Curbside
  • Have fun with friends at SUBOG’s Moonlight Breakfast
  • Order late-night food from one of the many options in Storrs
  • Wait in line for Dunkin’ in the Union
  • Use your points to buy a snack at one of the cafés on campus
  • Try the annual, limited edition Senior Scoop flavor, only available during spring semester

Prepare for Academic Success

  • Volunteer for a campus research experiment
  • Commit to routine meetings with your advisors and stay on track to graduate
  • Network with a UConn alum
  • Get a LinkedIn consultation or attend a career fair through the Center for Career Development
  • Hunt for a table in the library during finals week
  • Get to know your professors during designated office hours
  • Visit the W and Q Centers in the library for a little extra help
  • Explore the many study nooks around campus to find your favorite
  • Take a UNIV 1820 or Special Topics course to learn about something you find interesting
  • Consider joining a Learning Community to learn with students who share your interests

  • Watch from the crowd or “sing” your heart out at SUBOG’s Homecoming Lip Sync Competition
  • Go to a performance or lecture at Jorgensen or another theater on campus
  • Take a stroll to Downtown Storrs to discover shopping, dining, and fun
  • See a movie in the Student Union Theatre, hosted by SUBOG
  • Spend your Friday or Saturday evening at Late Night
  • Get your gear at the UConn Bookstore
  • See your favorite performers at a SUBOG comedy show, concert, or the UCONNIC Music Festival
  • Rock out to a campus a cappella group
  • Take part in Family Weekend
  • Visit the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry
  • Get a T-shirt from Ted’s on your 21st birthday
  • Watch or march in the homecoming parade, and then enjoy the SUBOG carnival afterward
  • Participate in a meeting or program at the Alumni Center
  • Attend an event through each of the Cultural Centers & Programs: African American Cultural Center, Asian American Cultural Center, Middle Eastern Cultural Programs, Native American Cultural Programs, Puerto Rican/Latin American Cultural Center, Rainbow Center, and Women’s Center
  • Get to know your RA through a program in your residence area
  • Engage in a meaningful service activity through Community Outreach
  • Visit the “Little Stone House” across from Swan Lake

Be Involved

  • Join a student organization after visiting the fall and spring involvement fairs
  • Run for or vote in a campus election
  • Follow @UConn on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, and YouTube
  • Travel somewhere new through Experiential Global Learning or an alternative break with Community Outreach
  • Meet the UConn President Maric and follow her on Instagram @UConnPres
  • Learn about fraternity and sorority life and find out if it’s for you
  • Donate to a student group through Ignite
  • Get mentioned in The Daily Campus
  • Tune into WHUS on 91.7FM and UCTV on Channel 14
  • Have fun at a campus event or program you found by following @uconnstudentactivities on Instagram
  • Play on a Club Sport or Intramural Team
  • Make something new at the UConn Innovation Zone
  • Attend a Group Fitness class at UConn Rec

Become a Husky Forever

  • Get muddy and play OOzeball with SAAduring Spring Weekend
  • Fundraise and participate in HuskyTHON dance marathon for Connecticut Children’s
  • Sled or picnic on Horsebarn Hill
  • Relax at Sunset Yoga on Horsebarn Hill
  • Ride a UConn bus across campus
  • Grab a coffee at the Benton and view the art
  • Try to avoid getting a parking ticket…but if you do, try to appeal it!
  • Receive a care package from friends or family
  • Ascend the Climbing Wall at UConn Rec
  • Explore Depot Campus including the Four Arrows Challenge Course and shopping at the Surplus Store
  • Visit Avery Point, Hartford, Stamford, or Waterbury to experience a regional campus
  • Trek up Busby Hill
  • Have your senior portrait taken for the Nutmeg Yearbook
  • Take a picture in front of the UConn gateway sign…if you’re in a cap and gown that’s even better!
  • Proudly sport your UConn Senior button
  • Celebrate your upcoming graduation at the Senior Send-Off
  • Thank everyone who made your college experience possible
  • Tradition never graduates but you do. While you walk across the stage during Commencement, proudly remember: Students Today, Huskies Forever!
